Lake Goldsmith Steam Association site flooded
9 February 2011
Flood waters from Australia’s recent heavy rainfall rose to a height of 4ft 4in at the Lake Goldsmith Steam Preservation Association’s permanent site based on the shores of Lake Goldsmith near Beaufort, Victoria. Lake Goldsmith is unique on the Australian rally scene in that it has permanent sheds owned by club members which house their steam and vintage equipment as well as messing and sleeping quarters – all of which were marooned at the height of the flood. A spokesman told Old Glory: “Every engine will need to be drained and repaired and water has flooded our oil fuel lines. Despite this damage, we are determined to mop up and steam up and be able to present ourselves to visitors to our 97th rally, due to be held on 30 April-1 May.”Belvoir Castle Rally - In Pictures
