It’s been almost 50 years, but the very first pair of Fowler BB1 ploughing engines to be built at the Steam Plough Works were stood side by side again – almost 94 years to the day they were first signed off – when No 15138 Mistress returned to the UK after half a century of Canadian residency.

Bardwell Windmill set to sail
5 April 2012.
The Wheeler family has been busy over the winter months building the second pair of sails for their windmill at Bardwell, Suffolk. Work is finally nearing completion as the massive frames have been positioned on the stocks with steel shackles and bolts. The new steel striking gear, which opens and closes the shutters, has been assembled on the sails and preparations for the big lift to raise the sails into place are being made, ready once more to make Bardwell Windmill a fully working flour grinding windmill again.
Monorail coming to steam rally

The first public running of part of the rolling stock from the Heritage Monorail Collection will take place as part of Clwyd Veteran & Vintage Machinery Society’s vintage rally on June 16-17 at Oswestry Showground, Shropshire SY11 4TB.

The Scottish Traction Engine Society has cancelled its Steam in the Park event, due to be held at Perth Airport, Scone, on May 12-13.
£1.8m Lottery grant for Kew Bridge 'Project Aquarius'

The Kew Bridge Steam Museum in West London has received a confirmed grant of £1.845 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an exciting restoration project, it was announced on April 4.
